Proverbial friendships

Proverbial friendships

“A friend loves at all times,” is a proverb found in the ancient literature called the Old Testament.

Proverbs are a simple way of expressing a well-known truth or adage based on common sense or experience. They are usually considered to be imbued with ancestral wisdom, passed down from generation to generation until they become part of a society’s oral tradition.

Here are a few more time-tested proverbs that help us see how important friendship has been and still is:

  • A real friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out.
  • Best friends make good times better and hard times easier.
  • Strangers are just friends waiting to happen.
  • Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.
  • Friendship is a flower that blooms in all seasons.
  • A friend in need is a friend indeed.
  • True friends are like diamonds, precious but rare; false friends are like autumn leaves, found everywhere.
  • A friend’s eye is a good mirror.
